About Amy

Psychotherapist. Mental Health Care Provider. Counselor. Social Worker. Clinician. Helper. I can be considered all of those things...but none of those titles matter as much as what I actually do...Help little people with BIG feelings.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Play Therapist registered by the National Association for Play Therapy. For over 25 years, I have supported both neurotypical and neurodivergent children in various settings including schools, hospitals, and private practice. I offer expertise in Play Therapy, which is an evidenced based model that incorporates developmental and psychological interventions to help children express themselves and resolve problems through play. I have seen countless cases of play having the power to teach, learn from, and heal.

My career has been focused and dedicated to providing an exceptional level of care to the children and families I serve. Words others have used to describe me include, “understanding, empathetic, calm, insightful, objective, kind-hearted, and fun.” Since receiving my Masters in Social Work degree from Fordham University in 1997, I have been engaged in life long teaching and learning which continues to inspire my work. Some of the highlights of my career include receiving the Ruth K. Newman Award for Excellence in Special Education, the ASAH Related Service Provider of the Year recipient of NJ, and securing a grant to build a community playground in Bergen County. I have shared my knowledge with others by serving on the faculty of several higher education institutions, including the University of Southern California. In addition, I have provided technical consultation during the editing of a series of children’s books written to support those in foster care. I offer clinical supervision to social workers seeking licensure. I am constantly seeking to expand my knowledge, and have accrued countless hours training to expand my understanding of childhood issues such as trauma, attachment, ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression, positive behavioral support, and social emotional skill development.

Perhaps this has given you a sense of my life’s work and purpose. However, none of this is as impactful or rewarding as hearing a child say, “You have helped me.” Or having a parent share, “ Thank you for making my child feel better.” It is my honor and privilege to work with your child and family. Let’s talk soon about how I may be able to help.
